How to Start your day right

Have you ever had a day that everything just seemed to go so so wrong? Your toothbrush snaps, your coffee tastes like dirt, the traffic couldn't be more annoying.  Have you also had a day that you felt like the birds sang better songs, the trees were greener and smelt better, the traffic had a nice tune with it? We all have had both days. But I believe that the most crucial moment in a a day is the morning. Actually the first few minutes of it.
If you sleep through your alarm and are awoken by a rude noise, then jump out of bed saying "O my Gosh, I am so late". In that moment you automatically set the tune for the whole day, and you will feel rushed, unless something, or someone slows you down. If you wake up in the morning and feel terrible and weighed down. Your day will feel terrible and weighed down. And if you wake up feeling positive and excited about the day, your day will respond well.
So, what's the best way to start your day? Well, you start you day the night before. Before you go to bed, set your goals for the next day, think positively about your goals and about your day. Close your eyes, expect a beautiful day and a peaceful sleep and then go to sleep. When you wake up, the first words out of your mouth should be something positive. Don't say, "Is it morning already?" or "I wish I didn't have to go to work today". Say something positive. See it like a declaration into your day. I choose to say, "This is the day The Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24). Also your first thoughts should be positive. Think about anything that puts a smile on your face. It could be a friend, something funny you saw a while back, something you are expecting that day or week. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it is positive and puts a smile on your face. You need to be thankful for the gift of another day, and purpose in your heart to make the most of it. After this go through you set goals for the day, say your prayers, and then get to your day. You can do whatever is routine for you after that; take a shower, brush your teeth, eat etc.
You see, how you wake up is important. Have you met someone so sour and then people say "He must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed"? Well, I think he must have. The first few moments of the day are so crucial, it sets the tone for the rest of the day.
